HUGH KENNY CONFIRMED AS SENIOR FOOTBALL MANAGER

Hugh Kenny is the new Kilmacud Crokes senior football team manager. He was unveiled tonight in Stillorgan where he was introduced to the players and officials. Following the departure of Paddy Carr after a successful 4-yr stint, the club has taken its time to get the right man for this demanding job and in Hugh Kenny they certainly have a man with a proven pedigree.
Hugh has operated as a highly respected GAA coach in Wicklow in recent years and was the county's minor football manager in 2011. He has received particular praise in his role as "Games Manager" where significant progress has been acknowledged by the County Board: "... good work is down to Hugh Kenny and his coaches going into schools and clubs helping out in many ways". This focus on coaching and youth development lies at the heart of Kilmacud's many successes in recent years.
Kenny was part of the great Baltinglass team that dominated Wicklow football in the 1980s and 1990s, winning an All Ireland club title in 1990. He played at full-back on the Wicklow team that beat Kerry in the 2002 All-Ireland Junior Football Championship final. Later, he became manager of the Wicklow senior football team, in succession to John O'Leary, from 2003 to 2006. This led to him being a member of Sean Boylan's Ireland backroom staff in the 2006 International Rules Series. Quite a pedigree I'm sure you will agree!
We would like to welcome Hugh to Kilmacud and we wish him and his management team every success in 2012 and beyond!
