NA FIANNA CLAIM U21 "D" TITLE

Body

They had a great campaign but it was not to be for our 21Bs in the Dublin "D" Final at a windy Moibhi Rd yesterday.  A superb Na Fianna team proved superior in practically all departments and never allowed a game Crokes outfit a chance to make a telling mark.  The concession of a goal from a penalty within 5 minutes set the tone and try as they might the Crokes boys just couldn't stem the tide.  The final score of 2-16 to 0-2 doesn't do justice to the efforts of a Crokes team that never gave up, even when the odds became increasingly stacked against them.  They will bounce back, have no doubt; this game will be remembered in time as a "learning exercise"!

Na Fianna's current U21 stength in depth is based on several good minor teams in recent years.  Our "A" team will have tough opposition when they tackle the premier NaFianna squad in the upcoming final.  The Glasnevin men beat Ballyboden in yesterday's delayed "A" semi-final on a scoreline of 1-12 to 2-6 to set up a mouth-watering final.
