"Faces Behind the Purple & Gold" launched to great acclaim
As the Champions League Finalé crackled in the background the clubhouse was filling up with stars, stalwarts, supporters and eager early purchasers for the launch of the 'Faces behind the Purple & Gold' club book.
A lovely warm summer evening and a warm welcome and reception for the launch of the book. MC Peter Walsh welcomed the editor and man behind the project, Paul Collins and his team.
Paul gave us some great detail on the background to the award winning Club Facebook page and brought us through the project that saw those club profile and photos come to life in print. The county criss-crossing crusading camerapeople came in for particular credit. So many photos. So many teams. So many faces is such a short time. An incredible tally.
Club chairman Kevin Foley thanked Paul for his work and spoke fondly of the Collins family and their massive contribution to the Club and community across three generations. The Collins family were very well represented and as ever hands on at the coal-face selling books on the night.
For a book full of photographs it was fitting that plenty of photographs were taken of the project team, the Collins family and others from all sections that attended.
Finally the vision became a reality and the hardcopies were on offer and signed copies were snapped up by the keen purchasers.
On Sunday 29th, a special home delivery was made to some of those who pre-purchased the book. Oisin O'Rorke, Molly Lamb, Cian O'Sullivan and Paul Mannion all lent a hand to delivery the book to young Dublin supporters across Kilmacud.
A few copies are available in the village Cafe, John O'Reilly Butchers on Deerpark Road and the club shop. You can also buy the book from 7pm over the next three Friday's at the Mini All-Ireland's.
