The Road to Croker

The road to Croke Park started on 11th July 2025 when a poll went out to the Social Camogie WhatsApp group "Mother Puckers" to gauge interest and availability to enter a team to play in Croke Park during the 2025 All-Ireland Camogie finals. A submission was entered by team bainisteoir Clíona Ní Shúilleabháin for the draw, and on 19th July we were delighted to be notified that Kilmacud Crokes were one of 4 teams picked to play at half-time of the senior Camogie match between Galway and Cork!!

Excitement was high and training plans were set in motion, pitch coordinators contacted, gear ordered by Dianne Commins. Training was twice a week, led by Pam Rabbitte, with offspring enlisted to run after sliotars, tog in as extra teammates, act as goalkeepers, whatever was needed! Great fun skill sessions and some fine match practice had.
The big day arrived on Sunday 10th August. Messages of support were received from all KC age groups, neighbourhood WhatsApp groups and further afield! Our families descended on Croke Park and it was all systems go for the 13 lucky players that got to play on the day, with watches set, time splits in order, and hurl / helmets at the ready!

Match Day

The match kicked off against opponents Carrigaline of Cork. Our training kicked in and all did super job keeping the sliotar up forward, with an excellent point scored by Michelle Nolan within a few minutes. This was followed by Carrigaline converting a loose ball after another few minutes to even the score. After a way too quick 9 minutes our time was up and it was time to leave the pitch, which we did on a high, delighted with ourselves to the loud cheers of our Crokes family and friends support!

Coming together from all four provinces to be given the opportunity to represent the club during the culmination of a fantastic inter-county Championship is something none of us will ever take for granted! We are all so proud and honoured to be a part of the Kilmacud Crokes Social Camogie group and thankful to be given such huge support from the club community, and club sponsor, the Beacon. Míle buíochas. Camogie memories made!!!

How to join:

The Social Camogie Group is made up of a few who have played Camogie growing up, but most of whom never played before and only took it up to assist with their coaching skills, or just to be able to puck about with their kids, and meet some like-minded ladies. There is huge comradery in the group, and fantastic friendships always being made. New joiners are welcome, with introductory sessions provided each week. Contact Clíona on +353-87-656-5372 if interested in attending - you'll be glad you did!

Huge thanks to Club sponsors, Beacon, for their support of the team on the day.
