CROKES ADVANCE TO MEET RHODE IN FINAL

Congratulations to our Senior footballers on reaching the final of the 2010 AIB Leinster Club championship. Following today’s win against Garrycastle, on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-10, they will face old rivals Rhode (Offaly) in the provincial decider on 5th December.
Check national media sources and Hill16 for detailed reports of today’s match, played on a slippy Parnell Park pitch. Thankfully, the rain which preceded the match stayed away and we were treated to a reasonable hour’s football.
Brian Kavanagh was superb once again with 6pts to his credit – what a man! There were other impressive individual displays from the likes of Kevin Nolan (2 pts from corner back), Cian O’Sullivan, Patch Duggan, Liam Óg and Declan Kelleher. However, this victory was fashioned by a collective, hard-working team effort and continues the trend of solid, character-packed performances. Having got off to a good start, Crokes found themselves 2 pts down at half-time (0-7 to 0-5) and had to dig deep in the 2nd half to take the spoils. Garrycastle will rue a number of good opportunities late in the game but few will deny that the better team won on the day.
Roll on the big one in 2 weeks time …. a mouth watering prospect!!
